I would like to see if the collective wisdom of the Chiffboard might help my wife and I to solve an old riddle.
Years ago, there was unique candy that we used to buy from time to time from a candy store bin. Then we moved, but from time to time we have looked for these online and in stores and never seen them again.
They were sweet green apple candy, about the size of a large gumball, maybe an inch across. They were green with a red blush on one side. The outside was slightly tart and crunchy (not hard), and the inside had a sweet, apple-flavored filling, so that when you bit into them, it felt similar to biting into a real apple, and the sweet taste of apples would fill your mouth.
They were really quite wonderful.
Would anyone happen to be familiar with these, know what they are called, or where they might be available?
Fount of information though I may be, I have to admit to being completely at a loss here.
They sound yummy, though, James. The Vermont Country Store often resurrects old products and sells a collection of candy that you don’t often see anymore. Why don’t you ask them? Even if they don’t sell it now, they might have had inquiries about it in the past and might know what it is.
This sounds like a candy that I would like but I am at a loss. I rarely buy scoop candy and have never seen this kind of candy at a gas station register.
Darn, not getting anywhere. So much for this as a scavenger hunt. Finding things that have the approximate color & flavor, but probably all wrong on texture.
I remember seeing round green candies with a red blush in those gumball-type machines in shopping malls, but I never bought them so I don’t know what they tasted like. Maybe someone can check their local mall next time they’re out and get the name.
Edited to add - it might have been these Apple Cinnamon Gumballs that I saw:
