Keyless Flute Cases

Hey Guys,

I just got a new keyless flute and I’m looking for a case to protect it. I’ve been looking around on the internet and all I’m finding are cases for keyed Boehm-system flutes.

While searching, however, I came across Northwind Flute Case Co. Does anybody know anything about their cases or where one can purchase one?

Aside from Northwind, are there any other hard case manufacturers that produce cases for keyless or simple-system flutes?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

These make great flute cases:

And if you don’t mind less-sexy black plastic, you can get the Doskosport pistol cases something like this for less than $30:

David Copley (dcopley on this board) usually has some. They don’t look like much, but they work great and are just big enough to put your cleaning rod in diagonally behind the top layer of foam.

These pistol cases are really very nice for 3 or 4-piece keyless flutes.

Aha! That’s the one I have!

David, you’re not making enough money!

Northwind cases (also called French cases) have to be custom made to fit simple-system flutes. Hammy Hamilton sells Northwind cases, and perhaps Peter Noy does, too. These cases would fit a flute with a single mid-section.
Hamilton also sells a good, basic foam lined plastic case. www.hamiltonflutes.com Click on “price list.”

Terry McGee makes wood cases: http://www.mcgee-flutes.com/accessories.html
Less expensive options are available, too, like Cavallero roll cases or the pistol case mentioned above.

A cabinet maker friend has been promising to make air tight wooden cases, but hasn’t come through yet with them. I need a lot of cases myself, for all my lovely antiques… I like the idea of a caes that will look nice and also have a gasket seal.
