Clare fm earlier today announced the death of fiddler James Cullinan.
It’s shocking and completely unexpected news. An immense loss for Clare music.
He released a new recording recently.

The other day I was looking at the Book of condolence on RIP.ie and noticed how Carmel Gunning in her message wrote about a ‘mighty’ Sunday morning session with James and Carol Cullinan, Tony Linnane, Danny Mahoney and others.
I can attest it definitely was a memorable one, I was there.

At some point I even pulled the whistle out of the bag for a little while but gave up for a lack of a comfortable place to sit. I listened for a few hours instead and took a few snaps. One of life’s good days and some of the finest traditional music you’ll ever hear.
