Someone asked me about this practice set, but I could not provide any help.

Says 6 month old, is Kwisthout still making pipes?
Or is Kwisthoup a new maker from County Sailkot?

Any comments on the “Houp set”?
The prospect UP beginner has a limited budget and she asked me if she should place a bid or stay away from this set.
I have no clue so my guess is not any better than her own.

The person selling the Kwisthoup set on Ebay I think spelled the name wrong as I Google searched it google corrected the spelling to Kwisthout.
On the NPU pipe makers list http://www.pipers.ie/makerlist.asp.
It is listed as Hubert Kwisthout in Wales email is info@ecotimber.co.uk.

Thanks Ferg!
I know of Kwisthout and seen photos of his pipes from the 70’s – 80’s but I though he quit making pipes quite some time ago. The claim that this is only a 6 month old practice set got me suspicious.
The price on the “Houp set” is still low (if it is working), her other option is a used Daye practice set, or continue to play whistles and save up more money (not as fun, but might be the best choice in the long run).

Hi Marcus
It may be this practice set -

I remembered that Kwisthout had restarted pipemaking and was selling on Ebay.

This practice set didn’t sell so has been relisted. Don’t think it will ever sell on e-bay when you can get a set of Geoffrey pipes for £99 / $200 ![]()
