Is there a lot more posting happening on the Pub and the Whistle boards taken together now than there was before when the two were one board?
Side-thought… Imagi Nation: the place where children go to play and adults go to worry.
(Okay, that last bit has nothing to do with anything, but my Mom mentioned reading that somewhere and while typing the subject of this thread, the thought came to mind…)
At nearly 40 years old, I’m considered an adult in most circles, but I still play in my imagination. Growing older is mandatory; growing up is optional.
Brian’s right.
But I think the unsullied nature of the whistle forum has attracted folks who were put off before–it’s not the usual gang of scalawags over there, and I’m keeping my finger in the pot (to show my whistle-seriousness…don’t want to lose that ,) but I feel a little like I don’t know everybody there.
A lot of new faces on the whistle board since the split and they all have very valid points to make and questions to ask. They have,as Emm suggests, come out of lurk mode now that the field is narrowed down to On topic material and will probably not post as much as the pub crowd once they have made their point or had their queries dealt with.
I too have grown very fond of the Scalawags (even though they are known as Scallywags over this side of the pond.)
I thought a Scalawag was a witty opera lover
Approximately twice the new posts in the pub, for about the same number of new threads.
I agree with Cran to an extent, there is a novelty factor, but I think many of us are feeling freer to post in the pub without those pesky whistle threads getting in the way.
While I voted for a separate forum, I hope the “old timer” nature of the Pub doesn’t discourage new members from joining in. I’d hate to think it’s become a exclusive clique.
Anyone in here seen Turlough O’Carolan - it’s his round…
Nice in here - smoke-darkened rafters, agreeable rotund barstaff (that’s barkeep to you Colonials), bitter on tap (am I losing you, Tuscaloosa?) and the general air of bonhomie that comes with soft-focus intoxication. By Jove, you all look lovely tonight.
Now, I was supposed to be meeting Turlough O’Carolan, he’s after my collection of Stevie Wonder CD’s.
Yes, I’d love a pint. Whistle? No, I left it at home. It’s the company we want.
