I bought a Rod Cameron re-worked blackwood flute some time ago, intended for use as a hard-travel flute. It is a large-hole Rudall design. I thought I’d be on the bicycle, or trekking, a good deal and I wanted a flute I didn’t have to worry about. My plans have changed and now I’m raising money to build a house.
This is a blackwood flute made in Pakistan. That said, it isn’t at all like other Pakistani flutes. The flute is about three years old and is in perfect condition. No splits, no cracks, no dings. Cheap new Pakistani flutes do have a tendency to crack because the wood is new. This is an older flute, and was made from well-seasoned wood to begin with. At any rate it is well-seasoned at this point and given minimal care will never crack. It is in perfect tune and plays very well. It plays easily, clearly and with good volume. It does well in loud sessions. The flute has nickel rings and a tuning slide. My understanding is that Rod re-bores and retunes the flute to get the tuning spot-on.
Rod Cameron is a respected flute-maker. He was selling these for $500 and up. His own keyless flutes start at $1,100 and have fairly small holes.
This is a good flute. I will sell it for $475, postage and cloth roll-up case included. Three day trial period is fine with me and I will refund if flute is not to your liking and is returned in timely fashion. Shipping will be at your expense.

I had the opportunity to play one of these at a workshop a couple of years ago, and thought it was really lovely. There aren’t many of them around, I believe… How many keys does it have?
If I hadn’t bought two old flutes (a Rudall and a Wylde) in the past year, I would have been definitely interested!
