Hi,
I’m selling my Copley blackwood flute, unlined head. It’s about a year old and has been played very little. Perfect as new condition. About a month after I bought it a Casey Burns custom flute I had ordered earlier arrived and I stopped playing the Copley. I liked the Copley very much and kept it to play, but alas I’ve become very much a one flute only player. The Copley is very easy to play and sounds great. It’s a tough call between the Copley and Burns (which is basically one of his new wider bore models, but a two piece like the folk flutes), both sound excellent, the high register is slightly easier to play on the Copley, the Burns slightly more powerful and full at the bottom. It’s mostly IMO, a question of tone. The Copley is probably more traditional in tone, but I love the unique sound of a good Burns, and this one rocks (I’ve owned two other good Burns flutes, a folk and a standard, but this one is the best).
Anyway, 350 USD takes it. Price new at Doc’s flute store is 525. This is where I bought it.
bruce boysen, email me at b4bru@aol.com if interested
Hard to believe no one has snatched this deal up yet! This is a Blackwood flute, by Dave Copley (well made), for the same price as his Delrin model (which you can’t get anyway at this time).
It’s only $50 more than the Burns Folk Flute…and it’s Blackwood (my favorite)!
I would think this to be a great starter flute for someone who wants a wooden flute at a lower price…grab it and run!
It’s sold. I mailed it out today. Yes, he bought it for an excellent price. Just doing my bit to spread some cheer to the flute crowd.
I also just sold three concertinas, an anglo, english and crane. All very nice too, and for a very reasonable price. (ck. Buy and Sell on concertina.net if you want to see)
Why? Two reasons. I’m playing concert and soprano uke 90% of the time. Old standards, Tin Pan Alley, 20’s and 30’s stuff among other things. Wooden flute doesn’t work very well with this stuff and I’ve never been able to get concertina to sound good with it while I’m singing. The uke is ideal for this stuff and works very, very well with my voice. The uke has completely taken over my musical life.
The other reason is I just bought a small lot in Humboldt County, CA, 275 miles north of Frisco. I’m going to put a Tiny Home on it, and be off the grid. http://www.resourcesforlife.com/groups/smallhousesociety/index.htm
Somewhere between 125 and 400 sq ft. I’m selling everthing I own but a few possessions.
I have an Olwell D bamboo flute I don’t want if some one makes a good offer. I hear they go for hundreds of dollars on ebay.
