… i realize that this should likely be posted in the used instruments forum, but i thought it made sense to put it here… (Mods feel free to move if necessary)…
i am looking for an A fife, wood (not bamboo) very partial to the Sweetheart flutes.
thank you in advance for any help you might have to offer,
be well,

Jim,
that is my plan. i already have three Sweetheart flutes. so, i am very familiar with them… and i love them. i may eventually replace my maple F with a rosewood F. But the G and the Bb are absolute keepers… i have even toyed with the thought of a low D from Sweetheart’s offerings… ( i know, all the ITM folks will probably put a warrant for me, but hey… i like Sweetheart flutes…
although i have to admit i don’t play as well ITM as anybody on this site… i play about 30 tunes… most of them way too slow and i play a lot of not ITM stuff, too. i am no where good enough to be able to say “I play ITM,” with a straight face.
Yes, I have a G, an A, a high C, a low C (which is surprisingly good in a rudally way),
and a diamondwood pic.
I use the A a great deal on the street, and the G in venues where I need to play in C (e.g. to accompany singers).
Today I was at an old time/blue grass jam and I was using the A to play in A and in D.
Gee, what a great flute. I mean, there may be something better but it’s sweet and woody and
flexible and fast and in tune… I expect I’ve reached the point of diminishing returns on better flutes
in these keys. I once played a Skip H. Bb fife and it was ‘better’ in some sense but way too loud.
