Sorry to hear it.
Amazing how big a hole such a small critter can leave in your heart and life, isn’t it?
I was making prayer ribbons today for our memory garden, and after one of the other cats reminded me that I had yet to make one for my own best lost friend (by jumping up my back to my shoulder like she used to, ony he weighs at least three times what she did!!!
) I was caught off guard by how many little fuzz-wads have been in our lives just since my hubby and I have been together. Needless to say, tears are lapping at the surface of life today.
Your ferret looks so calm and relaxed in your hand in that shot…you 2 must have been close. I’m sorry for your loss.
It 's the only lousy thing about pets.
I’m sorry.
Sorry for your loss, James. The worst thing about pets is the briefness of their journey with us.
Oh, James! I’m sorry to hear of your loss! I remember seeing that very photograph before and thinking how fortunate you two were to have each other.
What a charming critter.
Sorry for your loss.
I feel for your loss James. We had a cinamon fella that was the spitting image of your wee one there.
Take heart, he’s doing the ‘war dance’ on the other side.
Folks, thanks for your kind thoughts.

P.S. We are going to keep his ashes. At some point, I’m going to have a little metal plaque engraved with this:
Chitterbug

'Bug,
Cheejah,
and ‘Bug-Bitin’

Ferret “war dance”.

And for those who do not think Ferrets can be trained…

I think Cheejah “trained” us. ![]()
He was our first ferret–thus, his “title” was First Fert–and he was very patient with us while we learned and went from newbies to competent ferret owners.
I remember the first time we got him a hammock for his cage, he was so thrilled he war danced and was duking around all over the place. (“Duking” is a little chuckling-in-the-throat sound that a happy ferret makes.)
When he and Chewie were kits, we were playing with them and there was an empty tissue box…they both climbed into the tissue box and were wrestling around in there. (Now Chewie alone is much bigger than the box.)
'Bug taught us that even a small brain can hold a vibrant, curious intelligence and a wonderfully querky personality.
I’m gonna miss that little snerk.

That’s the same dance our 120+ lb Otterhound was doing just a couple of days ago when he got home from the groomer’s with his summer haircut!
(He doesn’t get to hide in the haybales so successfully now!)
Too cute!
There’s no doubt about it, they are super intelligent. You can see “the wheels” turning in their heads when they’re trying trying to figure out a new approach to something that’s forbidden. ![]()
I have had nine of these weasle buds over the years and even though it has been many (years) since the last one passed, I still miss them all terribly. They were good friends and they sure taught me a ton about my responsibility toward another living being.
