for doglvrs only...

…scottielvr is scottieless. I hesitated to post this…in light of recent threads on cloning pets, the pit-bull controversy, etc.; nonetheless I wanted, needed I suppose, to share with friends and fellow doglvrs here on the board, a small memorial to my little one who’s gone. Warning, it’s very sentimental,-- maudlin, if you will. My thanks, as aye; this board and the good people on it are a cherished comfort, distraction, and diversion … in good times and sad. So:

Deepest condolences Scottielvr,
That tribute in the link is very beautifully written and incredibly moving. The great love you had for each other shines through the words and your sorrow is almost tangible. I 've had to wipe a wee tear away from my own eye reading it,I will admit. My thoughts are with you in these sad times.

Take care,
D.

I am very sorry to learn of your loss, and my thoughts are with you. A beautiful memorial, to match a beautiful pup. My deepest sympathy to you scottielvr, and may the spirit of Fergie never truly leave your side.

It was indeed a beautiful memorial. The screen was a blur for some time after reading it.

I’m sorry.

I’m so sorry  That was an extremely beautiful and well-written tribute. I wish every dog owner had the same love and affection for the dogs entrusted to their care that you had for Fergie. You obviously had a special bond that greatly enhanced the lives of both human and canine.

What a darling little one she was. I’m sorry for the terribly hard time you are going through. I can hardly see the darn keyboard.

Hugs and doggie kisses. What a sweet critter. Irreplaceable.

Darned nice tribute. Enjoy her memory.

Lovely tribute, scottie. My heart goes out to you.

Carol

You have my deepest sympathy, Scottie. We lost our 14-year-old (my avatar) in April. They’re such good friends.

Deepest sympathy,

D

(((((scottielvr))))) went through this recently with my very best cat friend. I know just how you feel. May her soul fly free, and may you catch her watching every now and again.

I am so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful tribute to such a steadfast friend. My mom has a Scottie, his name is Robby and like your Fergie, he has a personality all his own. May your memories give you comfort.

Kathy

A moving tribute to a wonderful animal. I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Very sorry to hear it. Many condolences.

I am very sorry for your loss. I have also loved and lost some very wonderful dogs.

Dogs like Fergie bring joy by being such joyful creatures themselves. May you take comfort in remembering that she showed how life is to be lived.

Roger

I’m so very sorry. That’s the only bad thing about dogs…that they just can’t hang around longer.

Oh this brings to mind so many of my beloved Skyes… your tribute was wonderful and the description… There is nothing I can say that will help. Even when we know it’s coming, because, as you said, they tell us that it’s time, it’s still too hard to give them up . The loss is tremendous when they have been our constant companions for so long.

It is good that you got to keep her nearby. That helps. I’ve got 13 devoted Skyes I laid to rest over the years here on the farm and two that I had cremated with instructions that when I go, they go with me.
Anyone who has had a close relationship with an animal knows how hard a time you are having.

I don’t know if you have others, but if you don’t, then I hope you will consider getting another. While it does not replace the other, it can certainly help fill that void that is all too huge. That has gotten me through more than once.

Take care and know that while time will not erase her memory, it will blunt the hurt you’re feeling now. She will bring you joy again and again every time you recall your special friend. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to be loved by such a dog have been truly blessed.

You may be familiar with the following, but in case you’re not, I’ll post it with the following warning- as many times as I’ve read it , I still can’t get through it with out watery eyes(and I’m not a cryer) May it be true…

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER…
