IKEA whistle stand

Interesting thread on a re-purposed IKEA whistle stand (flute stand) ïdea in the Flute forum here:

https://forums.chiffandfipple.com/t/ikea-flute-stand/67147/1

(Thanks, Feadoggie!)

Somewhat more expensive and originally designed for Native American flutes are stands by Jim Morehouse. Check http://www.flutewood.net/stands.htm for photos and ordering info. The peg diameter is small enough to handle my Blackbird and long enough to support a Low D. Not sure how it works with kitchen utensils though…

Best wishes.

Steve

Radcliffe deserves the commendation. I honestly hadn’t thought to post anything about the lid organizer racks until I saw his thread.

By the way the Clarkes Original and Sweetone (I assume Megs as well) do not fit on the steel rack. A Copeland D does fit, but I wouldn’t suggest it.

Thanks, I placed my low d whistles on the stand I’ve found it confortable.
of course my overtons whistles fit more easyly.
( the Original’s Idea came from my friend Mario )

I checked it out and it looks great as a gig stand. However, to ship the $5 rack would cost about $20!

Well, If you have a wife, sooner than later you’ll be at Ikea…

Looks like there are several IKEA locations in the US. http://info.ikea-usa.com/StoreLocator/StoreLocator.aspx

I’d volunteer to pick one up for you next time I’m there, and ship it at cost - should only be about $5 Priority Mail, judging by the weight.

Not sure when I’ll be there next, though - I live about an hour away. Maybe someone else lives nearer to one?

Haha! Been there, done that!
We made a weekend of it in the spring and went to the one near Boston and saw some sights. We actually got some pretty cool stuff there so I can’t totally complain. Wish I had seen the rack then… Charlene just said we could always go back…
