Anyone else find last week’s results a little hard to believe? Jessica never in the bottom three, then suddenly voted off? And the judges’ comments and immediately rushing onto the stage in apparently choreographed fashion?
I’m also finding the judges’ comments a little hard to take. What is it with Jessica? I can’t stand her voice (all household members are with me on this). Love Hollie’s voice, not sure she’s ready for prime time. Phillip is unique, but seems to be a one-trick pony. Joshua is wonderful but uneven. Love Elise period, but not sure AI is right for her.
Sometimes I watch the show and assume I must just be a bonehead, because I don’t hear the wonderfulness that everyone is raving about. I suspect that, in the case of Jessica, she is a remarkably accomplished vocalist, but she doesn’t tend to sing things that resonate much with me. I’m sort of half there, half tuning her out.
I dunno…hard to say how much tweaking goes on, results-wise. Or whether there’s preparation so that dramatic moments can be maximized.
In general, I tend to enjoy the duets more than any solo performance.
I watch some of Idol because during our nightly TV time together my wife wants to watch it. My thoughts about some of the contestants: Joshua has a terrific voice, but he isn’t very smart. He stands like a “deer in the headlights” when things are said that should bring some response if he understood what was being said. Phillip is a pain to watch and listen to. Hollie is beautiful, and I like her voice. I also like Jessica. I think that she has good future in the music business. I don’t care much for Skylar, visually or vocally. Yes, I like Elise, too.
I’m pretty sure that a good bit of the judges behavior is orchestrated by the producers of the show.
I’m not much attached to show (never voted)… Jessica is just young, they all are, and its “follywood”… Think Game Show! I just don’t “trust” TV or mass media in general.
There is a whole lot of tweaking going on there and its for the drama from the earliest intros, sob-stories about why and now my cat is terribly sick… please, if its that bad, go home and take care of the cat.
and the judges themselves… I totally agree… it always is
