Hi folks. Just a quick note to any beginners, or people who know beginners who want a practice set. I have B and D practice sets available, built around two of my own chanters that I have weeded out. See http://www.hunterpipes.co.uk/ForSale.html for details. Any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.
EDIT - The B set is now sold, to someone starting out on the pipes near Manchester.
I feel I should point out that the tone and especially the tuning of that cocobolo B is not what I’d consider 1st rate these days. Hence why I think that it’s great for a beginner - and why there’s a bag and bellows with them rather than just selling the chanters.
Oh and by the way I’ve sorted out the G# key spring on the concert chanter, and bent the high D key on the B chanter further away from the RH fingers. Going to voice the concert chanter C# and B up a bit too.
Sri Lankan ebony is simply Ebony from Sri Lanka. It is now unobtainable, and was indeed very dark and dense. Very different tone to Af blackwood though.
