I really like the “flutey” sound of my tweaked Clarke orig.and was contemplating buying a Shaw Bb. Since their construction are alike does the Shaw also have that sweet “flutey” sound?
I certainly think Shaw whistles do have a woody, flutely, breathy sound, not unlike the Clarke’s.

I have Shaws in C and D, and like them quite a lot-- like a Clarke but a bit more refined and focused. Still enough chiff for those that like that sound. One warning-- the sheet metal on the Shaws is fairly thin, and they are a bit delicate and prone to bending. Pack and carry them with care. Nice whistles though.
They also require an iron lung to play!
I love Shaws (own two: high E and Alto G). Love the sound.

I love my orginal Clarke in C, but I wanted something lower. I got a Shaw Low A and I love it, although it does tend to get me out of breath rather quickly. If you like the flute sound, I recommend a Shaw.
