How can I find a practise partner...

I have been trying (with no success) to find someone who is interested in regular practice, who lives on Long Island (NY).

I have tried Craig’s list and only gotten lots of offers for various herbal erection cures, Nigerian bank accounts and other come-ons.

Anyone have any ideas? I would like to keep advancing my skills and I can only make it out to sessions on Sundays.

Thanks in advance.

BTW - I play whistle.

Once a week isn’t bad!
I’d look for a guitar player to accompany me. There are musician and band sections in the paper where bands look for members.
If your skills are weak, you may need to wait until you are up to speed.

Check the sessions listings on the C&F City Guide.

Ask at your session, put small poster requests up in area music stores.

Tell everyone you meet.

Get a copy of a slow-downer program and hit any of the vast tune archives, and play along.

Visit BBC Virtual Session and listen and play until you can keep up.

Move.

I don’t really suggest that last one, unless you already intended to.

Thanks for the ideas

I’ve been trying most of them already - trying to move past the intermediate level

The BBC Virtual session is a new one for me…thanks!

You can also practice and play with the people at

hitmeovertheheadwithmywhistle(dot)com …just kidding

Ok, I meant to say whistlethis is a cool place to learn new tunes and post your playing.

and there are a few slow session websites that post recordings of slow sessions that you could play along with. Sorry I don’t have any links right now.

You can use the slow downer program to play with faster music.
