virtual session

This may seem a little strange but . . . I live in an area where a live session just won’t happen and was wondering (hoping) that there is a “play-a-long” type CD available of a simulated session where the other instruments are there except the whistle. Or, better yet, a CD where first the whistle track is played then again without the whistle track (sort of a training purpose). Hopefully . . . Thanks.

Here’s a good start:

Sound quality isn’t perfect, but it’s fun.

What about that comhaltas site? http://comhaltas.ie/music/

Yes! Especially Foinn Seisiún. Books 1 and 2 are both online in mp3 format. Common session tunes played in very straightforward, standard settings.

Thanks all. Perfect.

This might help to. http://www.ejamming.com/

There are a couple of Alblums on Rhapsody that have recordings of session music.

Foinn Seisiún 1: Traditional Irish Session Tunes

Foinn Seisiún 2: Traditional Irish Session Tunes

You have to download their player and then you can listen to free samples, join one of their plans or buy the tracks for 99c

Hope this helps!

Go to http://www.celt.com.au/irishtune.html#irish and scroll down the page to ‘Begged Borrowed and Stolen’, You will get a book with all the tunes and chords, 3 cd’s with the tunes played slow and fast, and a fourth cd with all the tunes played at session speed.
It is really good, I have dealt with Celtic Southern Cross before ( bought whistles, tune books etc, and they are legitimate so you won’t get ripped off )
Good luck.

Cool, thanks!

Just a few monthes ago I also thought I live in an area where session won’t happen. But now the situation has](http://www.thesession.org/sessions/display/1750/comments%22%3Ehas) changed.

All you need is to be active enough to organize one.

This is good to know, especially when session aren’t happening.

Ah! Please say a big “Hallo!” to ‘Slayer’ for me!
