Heroes

Is anyone else completely obsessed with this ? It’ s been years since Ive been this into ANY programme:
Will Molly kill Syler?
Will Suresh heal Molly in time to kill Syler?
Will Peter Petrelli explode?
Will DL + Jessica save Micah and thwart Lindemann’ s plan?
WTF is up with Nathan’s Mom?
HOW is Hiro supposed to change the future,
AND why is Clare so central to the plot?
What does Lindermann want with Micha anyway?
Does the invisible Brit come back?
I BET Sulu (Hiro’s dad) is in cahoots with Lindermann…
WHERE is the Hatian and the E-mail reading Russian chick who met Ted?
Will CHasR ever get his monday nights back???

My husband and I are totally addicted to “Heroes.” I think it’s the best show to hit television since “Firefly.” Utterly gripping, with truly engaging characters. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out…bam! They throw you a curve! Looooove it!

Redwolf

I actually got the pilot for this show on iTunes by accident..I’ve gotten my wife and many of my friends hooked since!

It’s literally the only show I watch on TV

I started watching it in the summer. But I’m a 24 fan so now I scour the upper channels looking for reruns. But the cheerleader is cute. I guess I’ll catch up this summer. it kinda bugs me that there is so much cliiffhanging with not too much action. 24 is full of cliffhangers, but wall-to-wall action…

We watch 24 and record Heroes…then watch Heroes when 24 is over. Monday is a great night for TV for us!

There’s a lot of action going on now…you’ll definitely want to catch up this summer.

We’ve really been enjoying TV lately. Our week unfolds like this:

Monday: Drive (at least, when it comes back), 24, Heroes

Tuesday: House (and soon, “America’s Got Talent” season two)

Wednesday: Bones (and, when they’re on, “Project Runway” or “Top Chef”)

Thursday: My Name is Earl

Friday: Raines (great new show!) and Numbers

Saturday and Sunday are sad days, because there’s nothing good on TV, so we usually watch episodes of Firefly, Northern Exposure or Fr. Ted, which we have on DVD.

Redwolf

Heroes is the only thing I’ve bothered to download from the US before it shows over here. It’s fickin ace.

I’ve been reading the graphic novels on the NBC site as well, they help fill in some of the backstory.

I keep hearing how cool it is, I just never have time to watch tv anymore.
I barely ever make time for House even.
I’ll probably just catch it up when the DVDs come out.

What the hell is it?

Basic synopsis: Bunch of folk start to figure out that they have superpowers (flight, healing, fire, paint the future, time travel, going nuclear, the usual stuff). One of those goes a bit mental and starts killing the other “special” people to gain their abilities so all the other ones have to figure out how to stop him before an even greater disaster happens.

X-Men meets Highlander?

HA! Kind of. Certainly it borrows heavily from X-men

It’s a David Bowie album. I always thought it was one of his better efforts, don’t know why Chiffsters are suddenly going gaga over it.

(I’d never heard of the show either.)

really..me too! All the other refrences to 24, X-men, etc are completely escaping me…(altho I confess I checked out 'American Dad for a while)

I bet Peter isnt the one who explodes…Syler has to kill the shape-shifting girl who has Micah ( forget her name) before the seasons over…
and whatever happened to the kid in Suresh’s dreams???

I’m like Chas - love the Bowie album but never heard of the show.

Watched a great show on PBS last night about an American artist born in Sacramento but his parents were Japanese - he went to Camp Tulle Lake during WWII, and later ended up on the streets of New York…fascinating. I sure wish I could remember his name right now.

US TV routinely bores the tears out of me. There have been some great shows over the years there’s nothing my wife and I routinely watch these days (although I hear Eureka and Ghost Hunters are going to be back this summer with new episodes, so we’ll watch those).

Thank goodness for NetFlix - lots of good British TV and cancelled good US TV (currently watching Wonderfalls - which was wonderful and therefore didn’t make it through an entire season).

Eric

Nope, just find him. Hiro might stab him, but Linderman will
heal him.

Will Peter Petrelli explode?

Tough one. It seems that the whole explosion thing revolves
around Nathan winning the election. My wife thinks Nathan
will blow his cover and fly Peter into the stratosphere at the
last minute so the explosion will only kill him (Peter will
survive the explosion and the fall due to his healing factor).
Though, it’s still entirely possible that if Nathan doesn’t
explode that Syler will.

What does Lindermann want with Micha anyway?
Will DL + Jessica save Micah and thwart Lindemann’ s plan?

(these are related) Linderman wants Micah to rig the electronic
voting machines or tallying machines so Nathan wins. I think
Nathan would win the election, if he didn’t fly to Peter at the
last minute, so I doubt DL & Jessica will be successful.

WTF is up with Nathan’s Mom?

NBC.com has an excellent companion comic book to go with
each episode. From one of the most recent comics, we find that
Linderman was on a secret Army mission in Vietnam with
Nathan’s father. Patrelli was shot, and Linderman healed him.
After they get back from the war, they get together and
presumably start the company that Mr. Bennet now works for.
So, I assume if Peter and Nathan’s Dad is caught up in the
company, so too is their mother. Perhaps she was chosen because
she has some power, and passed it on to her sons. (Their father
doesn’t claim to have any abilities.) Or, maybe the boys were
genetically engineered to be XMen…
I’m also pretty sure their father did not kill himself. He probably
balked at this whole nuclear explosion plan and was taken out by
the company (maybe even by his own wife).

HOW is Hiro supposed to change the future,

Perhaps he is NOT supposed to kill Syler. Maybe there’s
something important about letting Syler be around at the critical
moment, and Hiro either realizes it at the last minute, or lets his
compassion win, and Syler is not stabbed.

AND why is Clare so central to the plot?

I don’t think she is anymore. I think it was important to save her
earlier so Syler didn’t get her powers, but that’s her only import
to the story.

Does the invisible Brit come back?

Dr. Who? Naaah.

I BET Sulu (Hiro’s dad) is in cahoots with Lindermann…

He runs Linderman’s secret company. So, yeah.

WHERE is the Hatian and the E-mail reading Russian chick who met Ted?

She’s Israeli. She figures promenantly in the comic, where she is
helping Bennet try to bring down the company. I don’t know if
she’s important to the show, or if she was just introduced for the
comic. Seriously, you should go read the comic. It answers a few
questions.

Will CHasR ever get his monday nights back???

I have no idea how this will play in the second season. It could
really, really suck. So, it’s possible, but doubtful. Buy stock in
Orval Redenbacher.

But if he dosent, it makes Peter’s whole dream vision a lie: he’s there at the critical moment, I seem to recall…

I gotta dnwld the comic…

Her name’s Candice Wilmer. Here’s a neat list of each character
and his/her known ability:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_characters_in_Heroes

There’s nothing to suggest that Syler kills her or Nathan before the
explosion. That could easily happen in any of the 5 years following
the explosion.

and whatever happened to the kid in Suresh’s dreams???

Man, I forgot all about that kid! I suppose he was the one sending
Peter dreams about exploding.

I think the dream was a metaphor (and a Toyota commercial). Peter
was being shown scenes that could be interpreted as “how to make
the future not suck”. Remember, Simone and Isaac were in it too,
and they’re both dead. (Unless Hiro goes back in time and changes
that too [God, I hope they don’t go that route].)

I gotta dnwld the comic…

You can only read it online or print it to a dead tree.
It’s a flash-based dealie.

seen the preview???

Sylar’s next victim:
TED!

Sorry to dredge up old news. I don’t follow much current TV, certainly not network TV (heaven forfend), so I pretty much ignored this thread when it made its first rounds. Too often people here have recommended stuff that turned out to be not to my tastes at all. What would I miss this time, right?

So then I’m half-watching some bit of trivial nonsense on Spike, when this commercial comes on advertising the first season of Heroes is out on DVD and I’m, like, “Yeah, right, whatever,” cuz, like, the ad doesn’t actually say what it’s all about or anything, just that it’s out on DVD. Whoop-de-doo!

But now I’ve got this stupid old thing running through my head all day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkJeClpQ8zQ and next thing you know, here I am at the video store, and I’m, like, “Geez, there’s nothing new worth seeing this week,” (this is only Block Buster, after all) so I try just the first disk of Heroes to see what it’s about, and like, at the end of the first show it’s like someone shoved an icicle up me arse, and I’m going, like, “Holy sh!t!”

So now I’ve rented the rest of them and I’m really glad I’m seeing these one after the other without commercial interuption cuz I think if I had to wait from week to week for each episode to come out I’d be, like, “biting the 'eads off whippets.” :boggle:
