Help, tune recognizing, please!

This mystery is solved! Check the new one below…

There’s a lovely tune I’ve heard a couple of times I just need to learn. To do that, I’d like the dots. To get them, I need the tune’s name.

Listen to this clip and see if you can recognize it. The clip is from the Capercaillie’s first album. If uploading this clip conflicts with any rules or something, I’ll remove it. You can also hear this tune in Michael Flatley’s - Lord of the Dance “Strings of Fire” at 0:50. If you know the tune after the one I’m seeking in this track, too, I’d be delighted to know!

Thanks in advance!

“Dick Gossip’s” AKA “The Castle”.

Wish everyone would post soundclips like that when they want a tune identified – makes it dead easy to check and see if you know it.

I think it’s Dick Gossip’s Reel.

Best, John

Here’s a link to the music/ABC:

Thank you! Putting a link to the ABC makes it also a few seconds faster to find what you’re looking for. Great, dlovrien.

I’ve found another lovely tune, and I need help finding the dots. Here is a sound clip.

Thanks!

Errr… the URL didn’t work, but judging from the link name, wouldn’t that be “Queen of the Rushes” and “Paddy Fahy’s Jig”? Not that “Paddy Fahy’s Jig” is much help as a name, but then, that’s all the name he gave any of his tunes…

Possible link to thesession.org on the album is this from.

“Planxty” recorded “Queen Of The Rushes” followed by “Paddy Fahy’s” on the LP “Words & Music” [ 2nd time this week I’ve had occasion to mention that album here ].
The"Paddy Fahy’s" jig is his best-known one, but they “straightened” it out, putting it into the major key, presumably to suit the pipes. I have a video recording of them playing it on a TV concert from the 80s.
“Queen” is at the “Session”, but I don’t know if the “major” version of “PF’s” has been posted anywhere. Which one do you want the “dots” for ?
If it’s “Fahy’s” ,give me a few days and I’ll post the abcs here for you, unless some kind soul does it before me.

The recording plays the first section up an octave, does it not?

The link should have worked. I’ve done som changes. It should work now. It’s the part I’m referring to in the clip I want the dots for.

Maybe I’ve found it:

Have I? I’m not certain…

No idea? I have to learn it by ear, then… It is so damn lovely!
