I’ve been laying behind the log for awhile (used to be Cranberry Dog here). Now I’m whistling again, and I picked up two new whistles.
For high D, I settled for a Gene Milligan in delrin. I got it from Doc Jones. As usual, he provided great customer service. I had the whistle in my hands three days after making my order. Thank you Doc.
I put the Milligan in the top five high D’s I’ve owned which include Copeland, Burke, Reyburn, Colin Goldie and Thin Weasel. It has a lot of character; plenty of volume for sessions and is the most responsive of the lot; which is saying a lot.
And wonder of wonders, I checked the MK site and Misha had a low D black satin MK in stock! So, now I’m the proud owner. I really prefer the satin finish.
The two make a nice pair.

Anyway, glad you’re enjoying whistling again. I still don’t prefer the high whistles, but I’ve come back to the low D again, and I like it almost as much as flute, for its different sound.
Do you still play the flute too?

Hey Berry, nice hearing from you. I had to pass on the flute because of cervical stenosis; holding the flute in playing position causes muscle spasms in my arms. Alas, but I have no problems with high and low whistles. How about you? any new flutes.

That’s right, I remember now about your problems with the flute-sorry that didn’t resolve itself, but the whistles can be great too.
No new flutes-I’ve been selling most all of my stuff off-down to one flute and one low whistle.
Every dog (and cat) has it’s day, you know.
