The name may not mean much to many but Leventhal was a promoter and champion of many of the great artists that still inspire us today such as Pete Seeger and the Weavers, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Miriam Makeba and many others. We owe it to him that many female and black artists were accorded their rightful places. He was a great leftie and was (of course) blacklisted and denied a passport for his beliefs.
