The differece between an ‘off the shelf’ stereo system and a custom selected one is VAST … I never imagined how good the sound would be …
I apologise for the thread hijack,but I’d like to to tell you about a later development in the purchase of the system…
Well,there I was,happy with my new system when my mates’ girlfriend,newly arrived form Canada,says, “Charlie,I have these old speakers in storage and you’re welcome to them if you’d like them” ..
Never one to knock back a gift,I said thanks very much,I’d love to have them,might be ok in the shed..
Anyways when I got home and unpacked them,they they were…a pair of Celestion Dittons :astonished: ..I was flabbergasted,as I was looking at a pair of these compared to the B&W speakers (both are English made from the 1970’s) ..
AS it turned out,I bought the B&W’s and was mightily impressed..but now …a dilemma :confused: .. One cant sell a beautiful gift like the Celestions,or any gift for that matter…
So…the Celestions now live very happily with the system…and the B&W’s are sitting in the shed with a “what are we supposed to do now” look on their faces … I dont know what will become of them either !! ..I already have a shed stereo with very good JBL L40 speakers… Oh,wo is me :slight_smile: ..
Once again,sorry for the hijack mate… I hope you enjoyed your birthday and we’ll be able to celebrate many more :thumbsup: ..

P.S. I’d recommend anyone with a love of good sound to investigate a Valve (vaccuum tube) amplifier for their system…the difference is staggering… especially coupled with a set of good speakers…and …of course.. a Marantz CD player :thumbsup: …
