Ostekjeks, how is your transition coming along?

This might be a good set for you. Mike is just a ferry and train ride away from Bergen.
I’m also sure he would help you out to get started as well

Always willing to help!

By the way, picking up on the discussion on the “Pictures of Your Pipes” thread, Chris tells me that the mainstock was originally sheathed in brass, and was engraved with the date 1997. I got them so long ago that I forgot!

Additionally, it also comes with an extra chanter with C nat key by Chris Bayley - with the Buy It Now option - AND - ONLY to members of the C&F.

Wow, that is quite an offer Mike.
I take it that the Bayley chanter is identical to the one I have. That is a nice sounding chanter and a very easy player (ideal for a beginner, like me). It made a significant impact on my playing compared to the Robbie Hughes chanter I have played before.

Very good deal for someone starting off or moving up from a practise set.

Hi Marcus,

Yes; it is the same as yours. It fits into the same top as the Powell chanter. Here is a photo of it with my wooden chanter top on it:

Note the nice right hand thumb rest, really lets you hold the chanter lightly.

Thanks for helping, guys!

I can’t decide anything right now, though. I need a couple of weeks to get the money anyway. The good thing is that I’ve been trying the pipes now. I spent some hours at Hobgoblin Music in London trying a Vignoles set (can anybody tell me about this maker and his sets, by the way?), and I almost got the hang of some of the techniques. I found out how really hard it is to play the pipes, but being able to try a set, my interest in them is now even greater.

I can’t buy anything now, sorry. But I will definitely look into it in a couple of weeks.

It seems like a good offer. I would be damn sorry to miss it!

That’s not far from London, is it? If i only knew about this sooner. I’m leaving on monday…
