Greetings all, great forum !!!

Hey’
very happy i found this place  came across it through jerry freeman’s ebay auction listings.(must get a new whistle!)

My name is Matthew Fallon, i’m 29 living on long island,NY

i am a novice/intermediate flute-maker and player (depending on the cultural style and instrument) my first instrument(first love) was the native-american courting flute about 5-6 years ago, well it all snowballed from there and i started teaching myself to make/play bansuri, kena, shakuhachi, zampona, dizi, etc etc. interestingly enough, i’ve picked up nearly every other ethnic type of flute (not to say i’m accomplished at any of them!) before coming back to ones from my own family heritage! i’ve Always loved irish music, i guess it was either the scary lighting speed playing or maybe a distaste for ‘‘overly proud nationalism’’ sorta thing that i never much picked it up really. Anyways’ it’s about time to change that. i’d love to get a good flute(s),whistle(s) and especially some good(or bad!) flute/whistle players that are around my neck of the woods.
i only know of a few indian bansuri and NAF players here. and Forget about flutemakers :frowning: if any exist around her ethat’d be the icing on the cake~!!

Anwho’ it’s fantasitc to find so many flute enthusiests and a place to talk aobut them  i’ve got a few of my pieces and art/craft etcon my poorly designed and “poorly-er” updated site below  god ive gotta revamp that cobweb!

Welcome aboard Matthew!

You’ll find not only experienced players, but makes like Terry McGee, Dave Copley, Jon C and Casey Burns all either frequent or visit the board from time to time.

A decent number of folks also repair/restore old flutes, and many more of us have tinkered with such repairs in the past.

Plus, there is the C&F Pub to visit (online only) where you can receive sound advice on nearly any subject (from coffee filters to computer upgrades).

Personally, this board is the most helpful and diverse bunch of any I frequent.

Be sure to check the NAF forum too

Hi Matthew.
Your sound clips are haunting and lovely. And I learned that the piece tied to the flute is the bird. I wondered what to call it.

Today we have Evren Ozan in town for a concert. He plays beautifully on all sorts of native flutes. Wish you could listen in! At twelve years old, he plays way beyond me. Now, if I could just interest him in Irish music!

I’m really appreciating this forum too. Glad you found us.

Jennie
