Don’t ask questions, just go see it.
This is probably the best movie adaptation of a novel I’ve ever seen, and it had a wonderful novel to work from. Yes, there is some violence in this movie, but none of it is gratuitous or overblown. Trust me on this one.
The reason I didn’t see it was because although I “liked” the book, I didn’t feel like revisiting all those grim scenes outside of my own imagination.
I’ll take your word for it, that the movie was good.
I did not find the book at all uplifting in the final analysis, although my son loved it, and saw & enjoyed the movie.
(It was a class read in his Senior year at HS)

(I’m sure the book wasn’t meant to be particularly uplifting, but I was really hoping for an ending I could grab onto…)
It doesn’t really sound like my sort of movie. OK, I’ll admit it: I generally enjoy movies that contain explosions, martial arts, and/or humor. A little romance is a plus, as long as it isn’t gratuitous or overblown. Guess I’m just unsophisticated in my movie habits. ![]()
I did love the book, however. It was rather horrifying, and the ending felt more like a beginning. Which, I suppose, was sort of the point. In addition to the depth of characterization and the intense story line, seeing the Taliban from an Afghanistani point of view was fascinating.
My kind of book. Probably not my kind of movie.

I know I am unsophisticated in my movie habits as well!!! All I ask is that I am entertained… ![]()
BTW, Dirty Harry was on last nite!
But getting back to The Kite Runner, just not for me, I suppose.

I’m going to go see the Kite Runner today.
Everyone else has to go see There Will Be Blood. Seriously. Best. Movie. Evar.
