Note: We realize that this is also Chris Langan weekend
It is unfortunate that there are two tionóil from the Upper Midwest being held concurrently. Still, this particular weekend has been when the GNIPC tionól has occured for several years now. As it will most likely be in the future. Both tionóil have much to offer. We are a small and intimate affair, devoted soley to uilleann piping. We feel this is an important and pleasurable niche to occupy in a world of much bigger events.
Tom, do you really think that there is much overlap in the audience/attendees of these two events? I suspect there isn’t, so it shouldn’t be a big concern. If the two were within driving distance it would be a different situation, but I suspect they are far enough apart to have their own regions of influence.
True, there probably is not much overlap. But one never knows. We are always looking for greater outreach, with a careful mind to not getting too big too fast
I am sure there are degrees of “Clueless,” just like there are degrees of “cold weather,” “prosperity,” “pregnancy” and rancidity.
I would like to state, on the record, that I possess a very high degree of cluelessocity. I’m not proud of it, necessarily, but I am cozy with it. There is a kind of comfort in knowing that you have a buttload to learn (and my crapulence is customary and part of the learning process).
Hopefully Saint Paul will thaw out before May – its negative something degrees there right now!
The venue will be in the spectacular (yet historic) posh digs of the Schubert Club museum galleries and the various chambers (see www.gnipc.org) of the prominenti in the Landmark Center. Same as last year.
