I have D flute that Glenn made for me years ago. It’s a wonderful flute but sadly I simply don’t play it as much as it deserves. I’d like to find a new home for it.
The flute is in Cocobolo, with stainless steel fittings, and comes in its original routed wood case. Note that the Cocobolo has, over the years, darkened to nearly black. That’s characteristic of this wood.
Any ideas what would be a fair price to ask for this?
Anyone here want to make an offer?
Nothing?
I’ll play…although I’ve not personally sold one of Glenn’s flutes or even played one…I seem to recall he didn’t make a ton of flutes. Maybe $700 or $800? I don’t think his flutes are collectible like his whistles (I spent $400 on a Thin Weasel…aka a water weasel… high D).

Hi. I know this is over a year old, but it has been years since I’ve perused this site. I was actually looking to see if there was anyone who would be able to replace the headpiece on my Glenn Schultz flute that was lost years ago. If you still have this flute, I’d be interested, otherwise, I think I saw another post that you made flutes as well?
Hi– I no longer have that flute. I sold it to a local player. It was too nice to sit unplayed, so I replaced it with a Doug Tipple flute which plays very well and is an inexpensive way for me to satisfy my occasional flute desires.
I never made flutes, just whistles and I gave that up a couple of years ago. Do you mean the entire head joint is missing, or just the turned cap on the flute?
Alas, the entire head joint. So I have 2/3 of a flute
You might want to make a special post about being in search of a headjoint. Odds are long but perhaps someone could make one for you. Occasionally they come up used on the Irish Flute store. Not all headjoints will fit all flutes though. Most makers make flutes with tuning slides but I have seen many makers sell some of their flutes without tuning slides. It a headjoint is a good fit you can do some adjusting at the tenon. If you were open to that possiblity it could cut down on the cost (silver prices are going nuts right now) and the time for the person who was willing to try it. The most important is their skill in measuring what you need and in cutting the embouchure. If you can find someone
