Looks like the chanter and bass regulator have gone bananas already as boxwood can do

Unseasoned boxwood CAN go banana, but it is rarely so dramatic as to be noticeable in such a photo. I’ve seen R. Reid pipes hundreds of years old with a pronounced curvature to the conical bores that were still perfectly playable and well in tune …and from a distance of 5 feet, you could not notice the banana effect.

The chanter cap seems escessively long to me, but an otherwise attractive set.

I think the camera distorted the image.

I also think it’s a distortion. They look straight in the other pictures. Email the seller to be certain.

If Sound can bend around the curve of a bass drone, will warpage cause that much problem?
Will it change the dimention of the bore signifigantly? How tight a curve can a bass drone have anyway? I’ve been wondering about this for a while.

Ask any 5 and get 10 different answers.
I’ve heard 3 unrelated warped chanter stories (including one so warped you couldn’t see light thru the bore) and all claimed they played beautifully.
I’m sure tuning is affected in all cases.
Regardng the curved bass drone, it shouldn’t be different than the ‘plumbing’ in any band instrument… trombone, french horn, trumpet. It’s all in the design.

Tony…I’ve a boxwood B chanter I made some time ago that has a slight warp to it, and plays quite well…the bottom B tends to run a wee bit flat..but that’s due to the current reed!

I think the banana effect is something to be concerned about, I wouln’t negate that. But I also would take the DIRE warnings with a small bit of salt…
