I have been looking (and googling) to try to find the Generation Folk D, the one with the green fipple in the US. I have heard recommendations that some like these better than the regular Generations. It looks like it only comes in brass, but if anyone knows otherwise let me know. So far the only places I have found it are in several UK and Australian shops, and overseas postage is high these days just for a couple of whistles. Surely there is some seller in the US (or Canada?) that sells these! There is only one shop I have found in North America, a seemingly well-known spot but one that offers no telephone or email access and a rather deteriorating reputation for online business. Is there a good place with customer service?
Recent Chiffboard reports are that people have received their orders from The Whistle Shop without difficulty. The e-mail contact is info@thewhistleshop.com , as listed under the Support link on the website.
Whether the green heads differ from the red or blue, or are made from a different mold, is a matter of conjecture. I haven’t played one myself.
I am hesitant to place an order with a place that won’t list a phone number. However, maybe it is still worth a try?
I sent an email to info@thewhistleshop.com using the link on their site and received this reply:

I love my Shush D, which I think is a tweaked Generation Folk D. It’s my favorite whistle for noodling around. I’ve been wondering if the untweaked Generation Folk D sounds as sweet …
I’d be interested to know more about this myself, if anyone runs across this thread that knows for sure. Seems like they’d all be made from similar molds, but you never know.
I’ve ordered almost exclusively from The Whistle Shop, and every transaction has been perfect. I highly recommend that site. I understand that there was a period of a few months some time ago when they had some problems, but I ordered from them in March of last year and again in November, and both orders went perfectly.
Understood. After all, I’m the one who blew the whistle (pun intended) on The Whistle Shop back in October 2006. So I think it’s only fair to report when the problems seem to have been solved. I’ve not placed any orders with them myself.
Like you, I’m old fashioned enough to prefer sites with a telephone contact, but many perfectly fine site are web and e-mail only. For a <$10 transaction like this, I don’t think I’d hesitate if they have what I want.
