If you can manage to get all your fingers on the holes at once you are winning in my book. Mine are too broad to cope with. High F is the smallest I can play.
If you’ve got a pet dog though, don’t be surprised if he comes running when you play it, or runs away depending on how bad it sounds.

All I know is, I love my Generation G…and I haven’t had any problems with mice since I got it, either…

But some day, my little boy will be able to, and I can play along on my low G.

My G is my newest addition - it’s about 4 days old… it still tends to have the “Ohlookatitit’ssoCUTE!” effect on me.
I love it - I have big-ish hands (especially when compared to the tiny hands of my sisters both) but once I got used to the feel of it I really love playing it, and haven’t had any problems.
It’s not too high, either - it doesn’t seem to bother pets & family members any worse than before. I guess they could just be desensitized, though…

My Generation G get every dawg in town howling, and you really can hear it over the roar of motorcycles! Fat fingers don’t help much either, so I may just give it away to some kid who has really obnoxious parents! It’s the end of the tourist season and time for Anna’s Revenge! I’m tired of answering the same old questions time and again, and I don’t get paid for it, being a local! One of the major casinos actually told me they like it when I sit and play there, so there’s one more business in town that won’t call the cops! However, I have a feeling that high G may change their minds!
I have an old Generation G that I got off eBay. It looks like a little sister to one of Mack’s brass whistles, except the plug is lead (don’t bother - I already coated it with several coats of nail enamel). I absolutely love it - far more than the later plastic-fippled squeakers.
You know, there is a song recorded with high G whistle backup that sounds really great. The Little Drummer, on Planxty’s Cold Blow and the Rainy Night cd has it.

Althoug there is obviously favorites for everyone, the little high G I made for myself is my favorit high whistle. (although my D I use for almost everything)
I think the high G has a really cool effect when played along in slow airs… when volumes are right between instuments, and the G is quieted a bit with some reverb… oh yeah, has that haunting ‘accross the glenn’ sound to it.

I have a little Weasel high G, and I love it. The craftsmanship involved in turning a thin walled wooden tube that small is fantastic, and the whistle plays like a dream-- not at all shrill, even on the highest notes. Expensive, but worth it for the seriously WHOA afflicted
