Now there’s one you don’t see every day!

Just wondering, from which era is the McHaffie? I’ve got a D/C set from 2001 - before the controversy. Not that I want to bring that up. John had an interesting approach to the mouthpiece and a couple makers have followed his thinking since. My correspondence with John concerning whistle making was always amicable and imformative as well.

Now, that one made me curious

Emtor, sorry about that, please just do a search on McHaffie. I wish John well.

John made the first whistle, of which I am aware, that had an adjustable voicing window. This works by sliding the outer mouthpiece collar in and out. The whistles could be played very quietly indeed or opened up for a strong voice. Carey and others provide mechanisms with similar intentions and perhaps better results. I’ll add no more.

I think I got inthe late 90’s. I like it, I just don’t play it muuh. I like John alot and can only say good tihngs about him.

I have a set of McHaffie’s. His first set as a matter of fact. I don’t play them and have been thinking of selling them, but have been reluctant to list them on this board. Thanks for setting a precedent, tansy.

this is to let all know they are sold and what’s still available.
