Hi everyone
I’ve recently bought a Jerry Freeman redtop A and there’s no point in me keeping 3 A whistles. As such, I’m offering 2 for sale.
- A Chieftain, all metal with no tuning slide, bought new in 1998. A nice sounding whistle, but it needs to be warmed up to sound at its best. I used it on the recording of “The Beggarman”, a track from the Malinky cd ‘Last Leaves’, in 1999 (ref CDTRAX190). If you can find it on the internet, feel free to have a listen. It’s been my go-to A whistle for 13 years, but the Freeman is now my #1.

I’m offering this for sale for £55 including P&P. According to Phil Hardie’s website, a new one would be in the region of £80.
- A Mack Hoover brass body with black plastic mouthpiece. It has a reference number 1151, and I bought it in 2006 from another C&F forum member. It’s nicely in tune, but it’s been tweaked by Mack at the request of the previous owner to make it even quieter than his usual whistles. Takes a lot of breath to play in the upper octave and is very quiet. For that reason, I have played it very little and am happy to sell it for what I paid for it. £30 incl P&P would seal the deal for this one. Assuming Mack is still taking orders, and I’m not sure that he is, his website shows a price of £45.
I would rather avoid Paypal altogether, so for the moment I’m only prepared to sell within the UK and take a cheque. These are both used whistles, and I’ve tried to be as fair and accurate as possible in describing them for you.
Please p.m. me if interested.
Cheers
