FS: my 1st Rudall (SOLD)

I’m selling my very first Rudall/Rose flute (actually, it’s Rudall/Rose/Carte &Co) #6208

It was my primary flute for many years and until now simply couldn’t part with it since it was my first.
But it needs to go now.
Here’s the details. it comes with original case that includes original cocus grease pot, cocus cleaning stick and (yes) original piece of leather chamois cleaning swab (that’s still in great soft shape!)

The flute is a Patent Head, which has had it’s share of repairs long before I had it, including a barrel replacement (wood is darker) and pinned crack that’s never opened in the embouchure.
The PH plays great extended about 1/2"

I used an Olwell headpiece from a keyless Olwell on the flute for several years since I preferred the lighter weight.

The bore on this flute is HUGE. It’s one of those Rudalls that defy the definition of a Rudall and lean strongly more toward Prattenesque.

Very large tone holes and extremely comfortable in the hands.

The flute is also very loud.

I’d like $3500 for the flute. It would be much more if not for the repaired PH.

Cute-sounding topic, “My first Rudall”: sounds like a children’s flute! Hmm, maybe it IS, maybe it has a HUGE bore because it has also bright colours and big lego keys… Just kidding David. But I’d love to see some photos of it, and also of the original swipes, etc. Can you provide photos?

here you go. The regular headpiece was the Olwell i used.

Thanks David, lovely flute. I hope you didn’t mind my earlier message, I was just joking.

of course not. :tomato:
lol\

Dave!

Is this the one with that crazy smooth/shiny bore? If I didn’t have my Olwell Nicholson, I’d be grabbing this one up!

Amazing flutes coming up for sale these days.

that is indeed the one, Blayne.
“glass-like” and “baby’s-butt-smooth” are a pair of phrases used by others to describe it.

yes, several flutes out there for sale these days.
the economy?

scary.

Sold.

Many thanks to all who inquired.

what a bargain!

David, which is the last Rudall with patent head that you know?
#6208 is a quite late one…

yes…a bargain indeed. Great flute.
Oh well.

don’t know off hand. PH were on them through the 6xxx series. I’ll have to check the database tonight.
