I just posted the following in the MandolinCafe classifieds.
I always swore I wouldn’t sell my Fullerton Gloucester, but in the last 6 months - maybe even 12 months - it has rarely been out of its case because I’ve been using another mando to gig with. It’s a crime to leave it neglected, so I’m having a half-hearted attempt at selling.
If it goes then good - it’ll get played more. If it doesn’t sell then good - I get to keep it.
I hate selling mandolins. I always regret it. Still the ad goes as follows:-
These Fullerton models attracted quite a following when
they were closed-out at a significantly reduced price in
2007 ($199 as I recall). No longer available new, this is
an F9 style instrument with minimal fancy trimming.
The matt finish on this one has been buffed to a nice semi-
gloss. The mando is in excellent condition with just a tiny
bit of mild play scuffing on a small patch of the top
(would buff out easily) and the beginnings of a small
amount of fret wear. This is a great little mandolin and
has therefore been played a great deal!
The Gloucester didn’t originally come with a case, but I’m
including one. It’s not a bespoke fit, but it is close
enough to protect the mando well and a bit of extra foam
has been placed to support the neck properly.
Also included in the price is a fitted Washburn internal
mini microphone pickup which has an endpin jack. I have
gigged perfectly happily with this set-up.
The last non-standard feature is a replacement nut. The
original was plastic and I just don’t like plastic nuts. I
made a bone nut for the Gloucester and, if I say so myself
I did a fantastic job
.
Genuine reason for sale is that I have 5 mandolins and only
ever play one - mostly because I am spending nearly all of
my time learning to play fiddle! It has been played so
little for the last 6 months that it took an hour or so to
wake up and regain its old sound when I got it out to take
the pics. It’s a waste to let it sit unplayed.
I’ll be sorry to see it go. In fact, if it doesn’t sell
first time I’ll happy to take that as a sign that I should
keep it!
I’m looking for £175 including insured postage within UK.
If the buyer is outside UK they must agree to pay extra
cost of insured shipping. Prefer PayPal.
Anyone local to me is welcome to come and see before
buying.
