I have a brand new Whistlesmith Low D Penny Whistle for sale. Color is a beautiful maroon, almost looks like wood. Fully tuneable, easily cleaned, play with minimum air requirement, complete with snap on thumb ring, 11 x 17 colored fingering chart, sheet of whistle tips and instructions. Also includes 2 bore cleaning sponges. Sound is beautiful. List price is $69.95 will sell for $55 including priority mail shipping, lower US states.
Whistle can be seen at http://www.whistlesmith.com. Go to “store” and view info about the whistle plus his other whistles and flutes.
Reason for selling, I can’t reach the bottom 3 holes (D, E and F#) with my left hand. Maker says finger holes for small hands. But my right hand just can’t cover the holes. Just received whistle on 9/29, so it’s brand new except for me trying to play it.

Donn: Have you tried the piper’s grip? Most individuals cannot cover the holes of a low D using standard grip…The piper’s grip is explained well on the main C&F site.

Best.

If you’re still selling, I’d love to buy it. I’ve been dying to try a Low D.

Yes, still selling. Sent you a private message.

Yep, tried everything. It’s just my hands are too small and the piper’s grip too awkward for me. My 71 year old fingers aren’t the same anymore! Have no trouble with the high whistles.
But I sure love the sound of this one.

I have that problem with my Overton Bass A. After a bit of stretching I can slowly manage that one with my finger tips… :stuck_out_tongue:

Doc Jones says I have Orangutan hands and can’t figure out why I don’t spend more time on flute.
