Rats! Beat me to 'em :frowning:

Sorry fellas, someone already beat you to the Syn set.

Darn! BDH, you and I need to team up here! Do you know any blues on the whistle?

Sure. I play alto and soprano sax, which is possibly more appropriate

BDH,

Blues is an ‘alto’ thing, man.

Do you have any ‘issues’ going back and forth from sax to whistle?

I’m in a similar situation, playing both as well.

Is the “Bb” in good shape? I may take it.

They’re certainly different instruments. That the soprano is in Bb is useful. What do you mean by ‘issues’? I’ve got a great story about taking my soprano to a seisun, but that’s for another post…

I keep wanting to use my middle finger - XXXOXO - for F#, for instance instead of XXXXOO. Just little mental mistakes - I still reach for the side keys on my sax when playing whistle, too. If course, I only do it once, then the ‘gears’ change.

Or that 0X0000 worked for Cnat! The octave key on the sax is also pretty useful - I still squawk sometimes on the low whistle when jumping quickly between octaves. One thing I have brought over from the sax to the whistle is growling. For the saxophone-impaired, that’s sax-talk for humming while you play a note, making it sound distorted or dirty. Jazz flutists use it as well. Still to find a use for it on the whistle though…
