For the Denver area People, Is anyone going to

The Festival of the Mabon Sept. 20-21 in Lyons? Some great music:
Wolfstone
Dougie McLean
Karan Casey Band
Craobh Rua (If you have not heard this group RUN do not walk to get their cd)
and more to be added
Ceili on Fri. night and on-site camping, maybe a few sessions if anyone else is planning on going.
Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with the festival, I’d just like to see some of you there, share a pint or 3 and play some tunes with you.

Ron

Don’t believe so, but that answers the question I was about to ask you - whether or not you were going to the Grand Junction Celtic Fest that same weekend.

Are you going to that one before you head back to NY?

Yep, not heading to NY till end of November.

Edit - at least, I’m planning on going. Haven’t quite asked my boss yet - figured he should forget that I took a half day off to go to Salt Lake first!

May have to consult with my better (and saner half)and see which we are going to go to

How far and/or how long a drive is it from Denver to Grand Junction?

thanks

jim

MS MapPoint says 245 miles, 4 hours.

4 hours this time of year and not going in the rush period. Rush is typically oubound from Denver friday and Saturday, inbound sunday. It can be pretty bad for many miles west of Denver during rush - add 1 or more hours. - Joel

Too bad I’ll only be in Denver from the 12th to the 15th of September. While I’m there, are there any stores where I can purchase an Irish flute? Or failing that, a good whistle store?

For Whistles visit Denver Folklore center or Kolancy’s. For Flutes contact Dave Migoya while in Denver, he posts pretty regularly in the flute forum and is a hell of a nice guy

I am thinking about going up to festival of the Mabon. I would be interested in meeting anyone who is going. Please contact me here or at my e-mail address ColoIceClmbr.attbi.com. If you would prefer to talk in person please call me at 720.427.1761. I am available 24/7 so please feel free to contact me at any time.

Sincerely
Graham M Moran

Thanks Ron. I’ve been to the Dave’s site.

Where does one get their CD? Are they whistle friendly, like The Fenians?

I picked up their CD at Barnes&Noble-tunes are very whistle friendly

Ron do you think you’ll be at Grand Junction?

No, we’re going to Festival of Mabhon, I can’t take the time off for another long road trip so soon after vacation.
