Mezzo (high) D Chieftain Gold (solid, heavy brass) non tunable. From what I understand, a great session whistle (last owner). Mellow, sweet, yet powerful. Plays well in tune when warm, has some backpressure, (requires a little more push in 2nd octave and has more piercing tone there, a little thinner, but good for sessions, and still not shriekey like some) and is in excellent condition. For those who like high Ds, this has a unique sound.
[SOLD] Mezzo (high) Bb Chieftain Gold (solid, heavy brass) non tunable. Now, this is getting down towards what I like the most-that lower whistle sound! Same as above, mellow, but powerful, very sweet lower tone, and pleasing upper register. A treat to hear and play, in excellent condition also.
The Golds were made for a very short time and are no longer available. There is a possibility that they may be made again in limited production in the near future, at a much higher cost, I’m sure. IF they are reintroduced!
