What are some in-person flute workshops that people recommend in the US? Joanie Madden was teaching this year at the Baltimore Irish Trad Fest but I missed it and now I’m wondering what other similar classes are out there.
Cascadia is on right now, Patsy Hanly teaching flute. Eamonn Cotter also. Would be hard to beat that.
Catskils is an obvious one, it came and went for this year, though.
Someone will come along shortly to mention the unpcoming Pipers’ gathering ( sorry Steve
) and there are other things happening as well AFAIK.
Thanks Gumby.
The Pipers Gathering is next weekend in Litchfield, CT. Lesl Harker is teaching flute. Colleen Shanks (UP and flute) will also be there. More details at https://www.pipersgathering.org/
Best wishes.

Another option if you’re in the process of transitioning from silver flute to a simple system or trying to play Irish tunes on the silver flute is Leslie Anne Harrison. She specializes in that sort of cross-over. She has three tutorial books on the subject and a fairly expansive web site at https://www.leslieanneharrison.com/
Best wishes.

Hi. There is the excellent upcoming IrishFest Atlanta that is happening the 2nd weekend of Novemb4er. This will be my third year in a row attending. In addition to many workshops across a variety of instruments, there will also be concerts. Flute teachers will be the excellent Anna Friel and Joanie Madden.
