Hello, everyone!
I just got my Doug Tipple flute as an after-Christmas gift. It’s marvelous, fun, and challenging, since I’ve never played a flute before. BUT, I can get most of the lower register(?) to sound, not consistently or cleanly, but I can get sounds that are more or less flute-like after about a day and a half of trying.
It’s a wonderful instrument, BTW. Doug has taken a piece of water pipe and made a musical instrument out of it (but those of you who own one already know that, don’t you?) I think I’ll be permamently adding the Irish style flute to my list of other instruments that I am playing (Highland pipes, smallpipe, and tin whistle.) What a splendid way to spend one’s time!
And, of course, I can’t leave well enough alone, so I’ll be adding another flute after I get better on my Tipple. I’m thinking of a Casey Burns Folk Flute for instrument # 2. And I’ll keep my Tipple, since I can’t bring myself to sell or otherwise give away any instrument I’ve played and become attached to. Crazy, isn’t it?
