Flat C#

Hello, any ideas on bringing up a very flat C# on a D chanter? Have tried all sorts of weird fingerings, tape, etc. Thanks.

How Flat is ‘very’ ?

Almost C

Have you tried different reeds?

Do you have hi D key on your chanter? If yes, firstly, check for leaks. If there are none, try plugging the hi D hole with poster putty (blutac).

I’ll guess that D’ (back D) is fine or you would have mentioned.
No?

Jacquesv,
you would need to give a much fuller description of the set up before anyone could hope to help you on-line.

The C# and C natural both utilize the same hole… the size, shape, position of it all all the other holes, length of chanter, type of reed, type of bore, overal length of chanter, current playing pitch of all the notes… etc etc.

easier to go to a competant reedmaker/pipemaker who might have a chance to help you with the stick in their hands.

Good luck,
Geoff.

Push the reed in and tape the back d and any other note that needs it ,rush lower sharp notes.
