First public solo performance tomorrow... Any pointers?

I’ve been asked to play–what else–“Amazing Grace” at my dad’s boat club’s Blessing of the Fleet. Oh well, at least it’s not “Danny Boy” in front of a bunch of NASCAR fans…

I’m just starting to move from “newbie” to “inexperienced piper”, so it’ll be interesting… As long as it goes as well as it has as I’ve been practicing it, though, I think it will go over very well. Thanks to CF’er SRHill, I now have a nice-sounding Kennedy half set, which I’m quickly getting used to, so it’ll be a bit better presentation than my Daye practice set would’ve been!

Anyways, wish me luck, and if anyone has any last-minute advice or tips, it’d be much appreciated!

Last minute advice … if anything goes wrong, just tell the audience that that’s exactly how the traditional pipers are supposed to do it …

(it works for me every time).

Any advice for your first public performance?

…Depends™

Don’t let your chanter dangle…

hey Tristan
It’s very simple -

A few years ago there was a Uilleann piping busker in Dublin who was found to be cheating by actually having a cassette recorder ,with some good piping tape in it ,playing under his coat. You could try something like that !!!
But seriously, Good luck and more power to your elbow.
