Can you play higher than G in the 3rd octave? On my Hammy it’s quite easy to play up to G, but then I feel like running against a wall. No way to play an A. Is there a trick, do you know fingerings to play higher?
Of course, it’s not useful to play that high in a tune, but I would like to do it nevertheless. Must be the olympic spirit.
Terry McGee suggests OXX XXO for keyless flutes and the same plus the G# key on an 8-key flute. It works on my Olwell Bamboo and Dixon 3-piece as well as my vintage, German 8-key (sounds a little better with the G# key).

Here are the fingerings I have - I think I originally got them from Hammy, so they should work. (These are from the top of the second octave onwards).
Cnat: O X X X X O
C#: O X X X O O
D: O X X O O O
E: X X O O X X
F#: X X X X O X
G: X O X O O O
A: O X X X X O
That’s all I have - I’ve never felt the need to experiment past A…

A = oxx xxo works well for me, also Cnat, C#, D and G.
E = xxo oxx sounds flat, almost Eb. So I prefer xxo xxo, which I find a bit sharp, but still more satisfying than xxo oxx.
When I play F# = xxx xox, the sound is not clean, there is a parasitic windnoise. xox xox is slightly sharp but pure.
Now let’s get to the next level of the game - who can play a B?
There are 3 fingering charts at http://www.mcgee-flutes.com: one for keyless, one for keyed, and the original fingering chart that came with a Pratten Perfected flute.
After you play with these for a while, the 3rd octave fingerings start making sense, until, of course, you get to ridiculously high notes.
I found this to be what works for me on my flute

G xox oox
A oxx xxo
B xox oxo
man it’s hard to get fluid up there.
also notes are often somewhat weird
