FEN: Bamboo flute maker

How about these sticks?

:astonished:

I’d guess that the stretch (RH) is about the same as that of my Sunreed Low D..

Pretty striking. Right hand stretch looks formidable.

Verry good for ‘Harf holing’

“last 1 on backside” ?
“then send money first”
“smarl” “guarantee for surprise”

:astonished:  :sunglasses:

yeah…

I also noticed that the blowholes are bigger than any bamboo flutes I’ve ever seen…interesting.

Personally, I like those pokect flutes. (But shouldn’t he have consulted with someone whose command of English was a little better…not to be mean, but really…)

Did anybody besides me notice that Rishi is an anagram of Irish?

Hmmm…I do want to sample a Rishi flute, but I guess I’ll have to wait until April or May…I’m too broke to want to decide keeping it!

emmline
hmmm…if you were in Japan he could’ve sent you one for a tester…if it doesn’t suit your taste you can simply give it back tae him, or keep it & pay if you fell for it

Ron, yep, I thought I did… but I think it’s his Indian name.

I also thought it was his name but I thought it was a great coincidence that it was an anagram of Irish.

Ron

I fall for everything. Unfortunately, Japan is not a convenient drive from Annapolis.

Yeah, I’ve got a bamboo flute in Eb with a hole pattern like that. It’s pretty much unplayable unless you use the little finger for that last hole rather than the ring finger. That in itself is not necessarily a problem, but I don’t even want to think about the trouble it would cause switching back and forth with my other flutes.

Consider that I play a Bass-Bb whistle with fingertips, so my hand-span is a good bit larger than average.

>msheldon,

I use my pinky for RH on my Sunreed low D…on the Dixon 3 pc, on the other hand, I have three fingers..,.,., I mean I use my index, middle and ring fingers. Somehow my pinky is too short to be resting on the polymer, but long enough to be able to stretch That Hideous Length on the bamboo – I’m trying if I could use my ring finger to get a better grip. One needn’t have That Hideous Strength to play bamboo flutes, though…

I’m kind of assuming that in the ‘pokect’ flutes there must be a chamber of sorts within the body of the flute separating the left and right-hand tone-holes to produce the length necessary for the ‘western scale’? Interesting concept.

Hiro, could you let us know after you’ve received the free trial flutes? It’d be interesting to know how they sound.
