Silent Night,
God Rest Yee Merry,
Angels we have heard on high,
The First Noel,
Joy to the World,
Santa Claus is Coming to Town,
Frosty the Snowman,
Rudolph,
Hark the Herald Angels Sing,
What Child is This?
Deck the Halls,
Away in a Manger
We Three Kings,
Silver Bells,
I heard the bells on Christmas Day,
Oh Little Town of Bethlehem
White Christmas
Adeste Fideles
The Holly and the Ivy
Mary’s boy child, Jesus Christ
This is a good season for buskers, except for the cold.
As we know, Christmas tunes are magic on the flute.
Above a list of tunes I know.
But there always seem to be some I don’t.
Suggestions, additions? Favorites you play on
flute?

Don Oiche Ud I mBeithil is the one on every ‘celtic christmas’ record. It’s also in the Bill Ochs tutor, IIRC.
Well, my current four faves are:
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen / Up on the Housetop / Ding Dong Merrily on High / Frosty the Snowman
They’re the four I’ve recorded as polkas for a benefit CD entitled “Holly Raleigh Christmas.” They’re in my signature line, but when I drop the track from there after the Holidays, I’ll make sure it’s still available here:

Thought they were worth mentioning on this thread, as they’ve been “Kerry-ized.” Cheers,
Rob
Yes, frosty is a favorite on the street.
I forgot to mention Jingle Bells.

IMO, Jingle Bells is not a very good tune for flute; solo flute, anyway. I only play it if requested.
Well, It’s OK, the B part is alright, nothing
great. Anyhow the little trolls put the shekels
in the jar when I play it.
What about Leanabh an Àigh (Child in a manger) it’s a good Gaelic song. Fits nicely on flute too.
Tomorrow shall be my dancing day (Correct title?)
I usually listen to early music around the holidays. . . anything with a drum kit or a saxophone reminds me of the mall.
