Strange request here. I have a new high D whistle that has a custom body with a unusual scale (Klezmer-ish). Problem is, I like the body but am not crazy about the head, so I want to Frankenwhistle this.
But the whistle tube is slightly bigger than a standard D whistle, so my D-heads (Waltons, LBW, Gen etc) won’t fit; they are too small. I’m thinking a C head will do the trick. Anyone have an extra C head they could send me?
I’l be happy to do a little trade or something for this.
sorry, can’t help you with a C head kar, but there’s nothing strange about that bore size for a high D. my burke pro session is the same in bore size as my gen high C. but i find the generation bore too narrow for my hands
Unfortunately, on many whistles the C and D have the same size bore. In fact, many makers sell a set containing a C body, a D body, and one head to fit both. The major difference between the two is the length, not the width.
If you have a non-standard tube, you probably won’t be able to get a standard head on it. Sorry!
