One Head Fits All?

I’m aware that some Low whistle makers provide spare bodies for their ‘heads’ (namely Cillian O’Briain).

But…other than the Susato ‘sets’, does anyone know who else might be providing a single High whistle ‘head’ (or fipple, or mouth piece etc) that will fit more than one body? Preferably high-end makers.

Thanks

Steve

I don’t know if I’m answering your question, really, but I think:

–Chris Abell will make a set of high whistles with multiple bodies that share one head.

–You can get the Water Weasel sets of two or three different bodies which share one head.

–I think the same may be true for Sindt whistles (a couple of bodies, one head).

–And there may be others.

Now I think someone should make a monster flick with a two-bodied, rather than two headed, creature. Or some dude who can pop off his head and attach it to multiple bodies that he keeps stored in his closet. So much easier than actually changing clothes – just put on your Business Suit Body, or your Day at the Beach Body before going out. . .

Well, there’s apparently Patrick O’Riordan. See Dale’s review at http://www.chiffandfipple.com/oriordan.html

Then there’s Harper, Dixon, and Parkhurst. I don’t know if all of them will sell you a set of multiple bodies and one head, but I suspect they will. I’m sure there are others. Those are just the ones I saw by quickly cruising the High-End Whistle guide on the C&F main page.

Paul Hayward of Silkstone Whistles makes a G/A set in PVC.

I checked with Mr. & Mrs. Sindit recently. They have one head for Eb and D tubes and also have one head for Bb and A tubes.

I don’t usually answer posts like this (being a whistle maker) but
I’ll make an exception this time.

I build (Jubilee Music Instrument Co) copper and brass Low whistles with interchangeable heads. Brass and Copper from Low-Bb up to Mid-A. It is recommended to purchase a key for the Low-Bb because of the reach.

An interchangeable brass or copper Flute headjoint is also recommended.

The brass and copper series were redesigned back in December and they both use a Delrin fipple.

The PVC whistles are available in Low-Low-A to Mid-A (1 octave).

Also, a brass or copper Chromatic Low-D Whistle/Flute is now available. It has six keys. A total of 11 holes. I’m very excited about this new model - It’s really fun to play.

Now that I’ve tooted my own whistle - I think further questions should go to private email. daniel@bingamon.com
After all, I don’t wish to misuse such a fine message board.

Thank you for the information, guys, and the exception you made, Daniel. All very much appreciated.
