East Coast Tional

Just back today and was another grand weekend indeed. Many thanks to those whom worked so hard to put it together if you are listening (Susanne, et al). About 40 some odd (and I guess many not so odd) pipers and about another 10 more instructors and reed/pipe makers (some both of course), as well as about 20+ other musicians. Seems to be a growing crowd. Outstanding concert Saturday night, a lecture (actually a “personal view” of Seamus Ennis) by Jimmy O’Brian-Moran, a really delightful open pipers chair for students last night (the young lad from OK was one of the favorites I’d say). Capped off last night with tunes and stories until 4:30 this morning. I must say that I am ready to drop as I only slept 10 hours since Friday. Really nice people to spend time with you pipers. Hope that those very talented instructors have some energy in time for the SCUPC Tional next week!

Thanks for the report! Looking forward to the reprise this weekend in San Juan Capistrano!

I had a great time too, my first tionol. Why does it have to be only a weekend??? I was sooo not ready for it to be over! I’ve been inspired by the reedmaking demos to give it another try, made two last night, haven’t tried them yet, but they do at least crow! I loved meeting all the wonderful people I met, pipers and non-pipers alike, and seeing people I’d met before at Irish Arts Week and things like that. Everyone is so nice!
That air Mickey Dunne kept playing…wow! And whatever else he played, I was totally blown away! Something about his playing, and/or his pipes, something just got me. Wowie. :boggle:
I don’t think I have much else to say, other than I can’t wait for next year’s tionol! Sigh!

Yes, I had an excellent time too!
I had so much fun saturday night that I missed all the sunday classes.
I’d like to give props to Ivan Goff. That man has machine hands.

Truly, I had a good time as well. Nice to see all the folks and reconnect with friends.
