I know this is purely a subjective opinion type question but what maker’s drones/regs do you think would best complement a blackwood/brass Williams chanter in terms of sound? Dave was making drones for me when his life was tragically cut short. I have some half-formed opinions about some sets but I want to hear what others think.
My poor lonely (unkeyed) chanter has been pining for some mates so I’ve been looking around at various sets for sale (e.g. the Williams/Lambe set and the J. Bourke set). I do have an option on an extra set of Quinn drones that a friend of mine owns (currently being refurbed by Quinn) although he doesn’t have an extra bag with stock cup so I’d have to get that…
