Doyle Flute

A friend of mine, an extract from the huge Irish immigration to Argentina (over 500,000), wants to purchase a Doyle flute. Does anyone have an idea on his wait times?

Thanks

From Martin’s website:

“The waiting period for keyless flutes can be anywhere from two to six months depending on workload.
Keyed flutes should be ordered two years in advance but are often ready in less time.”

Martin seems to be very good at scheduling himself throughout the year for the various tasks he needs to perform, such as the repair jobs that come in prior to competitions, etc.

There were in the past a couple of places that may have had Doyle flutes in stock

try Crehan’s in Dublin, Just Flutes, or the World Music store in Christchurch New Zealand (or something like that can’t remember the exact name)

not sure if they still do but worth a shot if one doesn’t want to wait a couple of months.

hi,

not sure how your friend would feel about ordering to argentina from ebay (some sellers don’t allow it), but i have seen a few go recently… there is one up now (although a strange wood):

Keyless Irish Flute by Martin Doyle
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140437377788&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1154

the seller says it’s made of Tanekaha wood. never heard of it, don’t know what it would sound like, but looks gorgeous.

anyway, good luck.

Hi! Is your friend still in Argentina?
I don’t know about Martin Doyle’s waiting list, but we can keep in touch since we’re so few here.
There’s a couple of options in Buenos Aires to play the irish flute so maybe I can help.

he lives there. I’ll PM you.
