Down the crushen road- Catherine McEvoy

Catherine was launching a new recording earlier this week, Down the Crushen road.
All proceeds going to Medical aid for Gaza. A most worthy cause but as someone said earlier ‘she’ll never get into America now’.

Hoping her CD still gets to me. Hey, everybody! Listen to the tunes on Bandcamp & you’ll want to buy it.

Catherine McEvoy is probably my favorite Irish flute musician. I love her tone, rhythm and lift, which is probably comes from years of playing for cèilidh bands.

Hoping her CD still gets to me.

It probably will, but the questionis, will you end up on a watchlist for sending money to Gaza?

Both Conal O Grada and herself were launching their new CDs on Sunday. I didn’t get anything, I have enough ‘stuff’. I did get Mick O Connor’s book, that is a must have but overall I wasn’t in buying mood.

I have heard an awful lot of flute players this week, including McEvoy. Most had something to commend them, not sure I’d want to pick one over another.

Also, context is important. Right now, as I write, I am listening to a fluteplayer, and a very fine one, playing for dancers in a group of different instruments. It sounds wonderful, yet I heard the same player solo in concert two days sgo and I felt the tone off the flute too harsh to enjoy.

Really good stuff! I’m listening through it right now, I might need to buy a formal copy.

I purchased. Very nice material as would be expected from Ms. McEvoy. Recommended.

Best wishes.
